Submitting assessments is a key part of any course. The Assessment Dropbox enables you to submit assignments in VU Collaborate and written assignments are often put through Turnitin Feedback Studio (TFS). TFS is used for two main purposes.  One is to match each piece of written work to other pieces of written work that are kept in the TFS database.  The second is for providing feedback within your assignment.

How do I submit to the Assessment Dropbox?

On the Assessment Dropbox Folder page, click on the folder you want to submit. You can get an idea of what Dropbox to submit by reading the title and instructions in the Dropbox folder. Click ‘Add a File’ to browse for the file you want to submit and upload it to the correct Dropbox, then click ‘Submit’. Please note that submitting files greater than 20mb will cause an issue if Turnitin Feedback Studio has been enabled for the assessment task.

I can’t see the Assessment Dropbox folder, what do I do?

There is a chance that you may have missed the deadline for this assessment task or the teacher may ask you to perform specific actions before you submit your assessment. Please follow up with the teacher to find out why you cannot see the Assessment Dropbox folder.

Where can I view my TFS Originality report?

Please view this guide to learn how to view Originality Reports on VU Collaborate. Please note it is at the discretion of the teacher whether or not they make these reports available to students. If you have any concerns about this, please speak to the teacher.

How should I interpret an Originality report on Turnitin Feedback Studio?

A number and colour will show up in a small box beside the date submitted when you submit the assignment into the Assessment dropbox that has TFS enabled.  When you click on this, you will get information about the number and types of matches in your assignment. Matches mean, how many times phrases or sentences from your assignment, match those of other pieces of work TFS has in its database.  For more information about reading Originality reports go to this guide.

Can I view feedback on my assessment through Assessment Dropbox?

On the Assessment Dropbox Folders page, click ‘View’ in the Feedback column beside the folder containing your submission. This will show you your grade, rubric assessment (if set up by the teacher) and any feedback received. Please note you will only be able to view your feedback once the teacher has published the marks.
