Composing (creating) emails
Compose an email
1. To access the email functionality in VU Collaborate, navigate to a unit space, select Communication on the Nav Bar, then select Email in the drop-down menu that appears.
2. Enter the recipient as the email address in the To field. Alternatively, select Address Book to locate an address from your Address Book using the search function.
3. When using the Address Book to search for a recipient, enter their full name seperated by spaces to make your search easier and faster. Afterwards, add the selected recipient by selecting the checkbox next to their name and clicking on the blue 'To'.
4. When you've done so, you can then select the Add Recipients button, your recipient will be visible in the To field.
5. Enter a brief description of your email in the Subject line.
6. Enter your message in the large text box.
7. Click the Spell Checker icon to check for misspellings.
8. Click Send.
Add an attachment to your email
1. From the Compose New Message page, create a new email as usual.
2. In the Attachments section, click and select the file you want to attach.
Note: If you add an attachment and want to delete it before sending, click the Remove File link beside the attachment.
You cannot add or download the following file types from email messages in VU Collaborate: .asp, .aspx, .exe, .bat, .dll, .com, .asa, .asax, .ascx, .asmx, .axd, .cdx, .cer, .config, .idc, .cs, .csproj, .java, .jsl, .licx, .rem, .resources, .resx, .shtm, .shtml, .stm, .vb, .vbproj, .vjsproj, .vsdisco, .webinfo, .ini.
The filesize limit on attachments is 20MB. You will receive a warning message if your attachment is larger than the allowable size.
Compose Message options

Address Book |
Click Address Book to open, in a pop-up, an address book containing your contacts. Use the Address Book to quickly fill in the To, Cc, and Bcc fields. See Using the Address Book for information on how to use this feature. |

You can also send messages to contacts by directly entering their addresses into these fields. |
Subject |
Specify a subject line in this field. |
Priority |
Set the priority for this message as Low, Normal (default setting), or High. This priority setting will appear next to your message in the receiver's Message List. |
Message |
Enter your message into this area. |

Click the Spell Check icon to check your message for misspellings. |

Click the Preview icon to have a look at your message before sending it. |
Attachments |
You can drop files into the attachments element on the page to upload them, record video or audio, and choose from existing files. |
Cancel |
Click Cancel to cancel the message you are composing. (Not applicable to Send-Only configurations.) |
Save as Draft |
Click Save as Draft to save the message you are composing (with any attachments) to the Drafts folder without sending it. (VU Collaborate Email only.) |
Send |
After composing your email and adding any attachments, click Send to send it. A message will display either confirming that your message has been sent or letting you know the message could not be sent. |

The Email Settings tab allows you to save copies of outgoing messages to your Sent Mail folder, or send copies to your email address. You can also create a signature for your emails, and show external email addresses in the Address Book. |
